One of the most asked about upgrades are rear idler wheels for the 137" suspensions used on sleds like the very powerful Sidewinder and ZR 9000 Thundercat. The factory only used lightweight plastic wheels on the 2019 and newer models that had questionable durability on these powerful sleds. Compounding the situation is the fact that only three wheels are used. It was for that reason that we developed our industry exclusive direct OE swap billet wheels that use all the factory hardware, bearings, and axle. Those new wheels were put to the ultimate test during the longest and toughest endurance race in the world, Cain's Quest. You can learn more about them HERE.

The Problem

These sleds were meant for high speed trail and lake running and many of their owners look to get the least rolling resistance and top speed from their machines. They know that for years drag racers and speed runners have used larger sized wheels to assist with their performance. The world record ice speed runner used 9" wheels on their record setting sled.

Upgrading to a 9" wheels was not possible though on the 137" skids in the past due to the location of the cross bar that holds the rear scissor stops in the suspension. There just wasn't enough room (as illustrated in the second photo) to allow the wheels and retain your suspension performance, until now ...

The Solution

Maxceleration Racing as designed a relocation bracket that moves this cross shaft forward approximately 1". This allows room for 9" wheels to be installed on these high performance snowmobiles. The plate requires no drilling of the suspension rails and bolts onto the original location for the cross shaft and the forward scissor stop. The cross shaft is retained by bolting it into the location provided by the bracket. The bracket is CNC machined from 7075 aircraft grade billet aluminum for maximum strength and anodized for even greater durability. New high-strength grade 10.9 hardware is included for the installation.

We've just made what are arguably fastest production snowmobiles in history even faster with this upgrade.
